The Lackawanna Railroad heritage locomotive is seen crossing the Tennessee state line as it leads the 22A past the Bristol Train Station and the Bristol Sign heading west out of Bristol. The 22A was tied down at the yard office for several hours ostensibly waiting for clouds to move in and ruin the sunny day. Shortly after 5 AM the Lackawanna heritage SD70ACe passing by the Bristol Sign as the DPU on 23G. And a 360 degree panorama. ns 1074, sd70ace, lackawanna, 22a, intermodal heritage, norfolk southern, train, railroad, virginia, tennessee, bristol train station, state street, bristol sign, greg booher
At 5:49AM on a bitterly cold and windy morning, the Conrail heritage locomotive sits surrounded by a thin blanket of freshly fallen snow as it awaits a crew change in the lead of the 819. Also note the icicles hanging from the fuel tank of the 8098, and the Ex-Conrail D8-40CW 8347 trailing. conrail, ns 8098, es44ac, 819, coal, heritage, night, snow, cold, bristol, virginia, february, winter, greg booher

Last weekend I heard (with enough warning to get there ahead of it) that my favorite heritage unit, the Virginian, was heading to Andover from Bull's Gap which would have it cross the smaller trestle at Copper Creek, a shot I've been wanting to get. So my friend Jason, who is familiar with the area and how to get there, and I set off towards the trestles. We arrived about 30 minutes before the train was due to arrive, just in time to catch 2 CSX trains, a coal and a manifest, crossing the former Clinchfield Railroad trestle. Thirty minutes past due, the Virginian not making an appearance, and with rain and darkness approaching we heard on Jason's radio that the 387 was still in Yuma Yard switching and decided it wouldn't have time to make it to us before dark. We then tracked it down in the yard and I took the following photograph just before it starting pouring down rain. ns 1069, virginian, yuma, heritage, dusk, cloudy, virginia, 387, coal, railroad, train, norfolk southern, greg booher
The Central of Georgia trails on the 39Q as it makes it way through Wallace, VA on a cloudy evening as daylight is quickly fading. Also included are a couple of detail shots. Today's post is early, as I plan to be taking photos of the Southern 8099 this evening. 39q, central of georgia, evening, february, greg booher, heritage, locomotive, norfolk southern, ns 8101, ns 9901, railroad, train, virginia, wallace, winter, details
A CSX coal train crosses the former Clinchfield Railroad trestle 185 feet over Copper Creek in Southwest Virginia. I had intended to shoot my favorite heritage unit, the Virginian, crossing the smaller Virginia & South Western Railway trestle, but it was delayed until after dark picking up cars in the Yuma Yard. trestle, csx, train, locomotive, railroad, rail, evening, cloudy, coal train, copper creek, clinchfield, virginia and south western, virginia, greg booher
